Welcome Preppers and Survivalists,
Getting Started in Emergency Preparedness was started in 2008. In that time, I have personally written over 5.000 articles about various subjects, dealing with your family's survival during tough times. These articles have mainly focused on the basics, such as mindset, shelter, water, food, medical preparations, firearms, and other necessities.
I even wrote an e-book, Prepper: Surviving the Tough Times Ahead, based on me and my family's experiences and research getting ready for the coming tough times. Like the blog, the book covers the basics of getting sensibly prepared.
Since Google's Blogspot automatically deletes articles, once a writer reaches 1.000 posts, I have compiled the last few years' articles into single pages. These pages are broken down into several categories.
What I Have Read
These pages cover the books that I have read. Some of the books were specifically about survival, such as Nuclear War Survival Skills, while others were for entertainment.
GSiEP - What I Have Read
Currently, almost every Wednesday, links and a short comment are provided to past or current articles from various sources; foreign and domestic government agencies, non-government organizations, corporate, and private citizens. These articles highlight specific skills or information, your family may find useful in your preparations.
Of course, the internet is always changing, so links may no longer be active. That is why, Wednesday's posts from 2008, 2009, 2010, and other years were deleted and no longer archived.

These archives contain the longer articles that I have written over the years. I have compiled some as a single page, while others are a single page with several articles covering the same subject.
You may notice; some of these links will redirect to another blog, Prepper: Surviving the Tough Times Ahead. The intent, for the redirection, was to provide additional information; video, manuals, and other sources; that a book can not provide and still be readable.
Needless to say, this section is an on-going project ; - )

I try to write an individual article, once a week. These articles cover a single subject that I think you and your family may find interesting or informative. These articles also cover subjects, that I think, other writers fall to cover or inadequately gloss over.
Properly storing your family's supplies is very important. It insures these supplies are protected, organized, and will be usable, during an event.

There are many organizations that provide worthwhile information, for you and your family, to use to get prepared for an event. One of these organizations is your country's military.
Of course, most countries can't afford or are unwilling to share this information, so your family can get this information from other countries, like these United States.

Military - Patrolling
One of the essential group skills that many preppers overlook is how to plan, leave, move, and return to your 'safe' place, during and after an event. In other words, patrolling.

Military - Gear
Our nations' military uses various types of equipment. Some countries call it, 'kit.' Other countries call it, 'LBE,' while other call it, something in their language ; - )
Either way, you will need to know how to use it.
