Thanks
First, I would like to thank everyone sharing my thoughts on social media. I appreciate the confidence, from you and your family, that the various blurbs and articles present a well rounded approach to surviving these uncertain times.

Next, I appreciate the thoughts and prayers as we go through the tough times together. The financial problems facing our countries, the natural disasters plaguing our homes, the future political uncertainty of our government, and all the other challenges we face as an individual, a family, a community, and a country.

Third, I have been writing at this blog for over ten years, so it's getting time to do a complete redo of the site. This means certain items will disappear, just like every year, while others will be modified to better suit the current state of my family.

Lastly, ... Hang around.

There's the possibility you and your family will talk about these time for decades.

If, ...

You and your family survive the tough times ahead.

P.S.
The picture is in color, not black and white.

Armistice Day

Trust
With the recent nationally publicized shootings in California, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, Florida, and ... friends and family are advocating for certain restrictions on our rights. They are suggesting, as you know, the same things as the anti-gun anti-freedom party, such as banning so-called assault rifles, magazine restrictions, enacting Red Flag laws, and many others.

Of course, ...

Their views are going about as well as wearing a Sherman button to a Georgian picnic. Ha, ha, ha!

Needless to say, ... This has gotten me to thinking about our relationships and trust.

Take our government, do you trust the elected and unelected officials in our government?

If you don't, like me, then you view gun control as the beginning steps of enslaving our citizens. The same views as our country's founders.

Additionally, ...

That's something I've also noticed. Folks that advocate for limiting our rights don't understand history. They have failed to understand how limiting ownership and carrying of arms emboldens tyrants.

Tyrants within their ranks.

Things You Might Want to Think About

307th
No, ... It's not that we have become numb to the shootings.

We have become numb to the calls for us to give up our rights.

Acosta
Ha, ha, ha. Who cares?

The dude still acted like an ass when the lady reached for the microphone

Be Careful
Yes, ... It will get worse.

Communism
Just in case, ...

Electoral College
Folks, the founders were thoughtful people. They set up our government to prevent the popular thoughts of our day; socialism, government supported welfare for corporations and individuals, gun-control, and much more; from destroying our country.

But, ...

The Democrats and some Republicans want to eliminate those guarantees.

Farming
Remember, ... It's all about how many calories you can grow!

The Future
It's here.

Well, ...

Almost here.

Gunman
Blah, blah, blah

Oooh, ...

No one else was armed!

Kittens and Puppies
Gross! Horrible! Insane! Loathsome!

Losers
Unlike our air and land forces, the U.S. Navy goes to war every time they leave port.

So, ...

It is good news to me that our Navy is again learning, there are two types of navies.

Mental Health
I love classic media.

They take a powerful message and turn it into a plea for socialized medicine

Obama
Yes, ... He sucked as President

Preparedness
You and your family live in the lush green forests of your state

Are you prepared for a wildfire? Really prepared?

Preparedness, Part Two
You're planning to evacuate, through the mountains.

Are you prepared for a winter storm? Really Prepared?

Slavery
I did a quick search.

Not one mention of the right of the people to bear arms

Terrorism
All you need is an imagination

Underwear
I am at a loss for words.

Except, ...

Where were her parents?

Yakuza
Just another word for ... Crooks

Overheard

"But what it proves is that gun grabbers will use any tragedy to advance their agenda, regardless of the actual facts on the ground."

"This isn’t rocket science."

"If House Republicans had done more to change Washington and deliver on their campaign promises, they would still be in the majority."

"Many doubt she means it."

"They weren’t driven by a collector’s desire to hoard guns and accessories, but by raw fear."

"People love dead Jews. Living Jews, not so much."

Friday's Thoughts and Other Stuff, on a Saturday (Networking)

Dear Preppers and Survivalists,

History
It is said, if I remember correctly, during the early history of our country there were twenty-two rebel groups in the Boston area. Some people were members of one, two, or three of these groups, but one men was a full member or an associate of at least one member in all of those groups.

With that said, ...

You!
In yesterday's blurb, we covered some of the organizations and folks that are potential sources to develop networks, so you and your family can survive the tough times ahead.

But, ...

What about you? Are you a good source to network with?

Be?
What is your profession? Is it highly skilled? Something no one else can do or wants to do?

Know?
What is your education, formal and informal? Do you know how to make something? Use a computer program?

Do?
What are your hobbies? Woodworker? Metal Smith? Musician? Artisan? Distiller?

Own?
What equipment do your and your family own? Bulldozer? Tractor?

Other Organizations
Needless to say, ...

I forgot some specific organizations, yesterday

Fraternities and Sororities
My brother, Spartan, went to college. During college, he pledged and was accepted into a fraternity. During this time, he bonded with many different young men that went on to do different things, doctors, lawyers, military officers, dentists, engineers, and many other professions.

They still meet every year.

Connections
While he was in college, some of his 'brothers' wanted to raise money for a new to repair the house.

Well, ...

These guys want to immediately send out a fund raising plea.

My brother told them to wait and first send out several news letters, so the older members would form a connection.

Political
The local political parties are a source of potential networks.

To be in fact, ...

Most political parties are about developing connections, so coalitions can be developed to achieve common goals.

Networking
During tough times, you and your family may be scrabbling to get the things you need to survive, such as appropriate shelter, water, food, protection, and ....

So, ....

Who do you turn to for help?

Government
For certain events, the local, state, and federal government are going to be there for you, albeit in a few minutes, hours, or days.

Needless to say, ...

The government will have access to money for shelter, think Section 8, food, can you say food stamps, and other services, like healthcare for you and your family.

Military
During some disasters, the State's Governor will activate the National Guard to assist victims. They may provide shelter, water, food, and protection.

These services are usually groupings of tents for shelter, bottled water or large water tanks for ... water, Meals-Ready-to-Eat for food, and confiscation of firearms and knives with roving patrols for protection in the tent cities.

Nongovernmental Oganizations
Yeap, one of the evil, vile NGOs ran by Mr. George Soros, Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Melinda Gates, or one of the Kock brothers may come to your assistance during an event.

Not really ; - )

More likely it will be the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, a regional religious organization, or another established group that will provide the basics of survival for you and your family.

Work
That's right, your place of employment may have programs that you can access during a crisis. These might be their Employee Assistance Program (EAP), sick time donations from other workers, taking advanced vacation time, health insurance, borrowing from your 401K, and many, many others.

Ooooh, ...

Don't forget, your coworkers might be able to individually help you and your family by having a unique skill, like welding, sewing, cooking, and ... prayers.

Fantasy
Before I begin, I need for you to understand something.

Some really nice people hate you because you believe you should be able to own, carry, and use firearms for your family's protection.

Yes, they are willing to kill hundred of thousands of people to further their aims.

With that said, ...

Don't confuse fantasy for reality. Our government starts shooting a bunch of people, especailly armed people. They will probably shoot back.

I would because that's why I own a firearm

Things You Might Want to Think About

Antifa
I have a question.

Why is Antifa still on FaceBook, if the Proud Boys were kicked off the platform for violence. I have the same question about Ms. Maxine Waters.

Corruption
My condolences to her family and friends.

Fake News
In other words, ...

A Terrorist Killed Himself Attacking a Police Station.

That's fake news, too.

The so-called police station is really a Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) station, the descendant of the KGB

Plans
Remember, God might have other plans for you and your family.

And, ...

It might not be surviving an event.

With that said, ...

My condolences to his family and friends.

Influencer
Some dude takes another person's money to promote their product on Instagram but they don't tell it's an advertisement.

Wow, ...

I wonder if Survival Blog does that?

Muslims
Yeap, ... Talk bad about about Mohammad, the pedophile prophet, and millions will want you dead.

Talk bad about Jesus, you will probably get a book deal and have a sold out speaking tour.

Saint Louis
Dang, ... Now, I know why the city has so many murders?

They have so many anti-freedom advocates

Star Trek
Just so you know, ...

Humans and everything else are made of atoms.

P.S.
It was Star Trek that had tractor beams, long before Star Wars

#ThemToo
Lets talk about real slavery

Treasury Bonds
These United States is planning to borrow even more money, even issuing a 5 year note.

In other words, some people are worried inflation is going to kick in, so they don't want to tie up their money for 10, 20, 30 years.

Warning:
It would seem, some folks are trying to convince you not to vote
Why?
Is it because she's black? A woman? A Democrat?

Or, ...

Is it because Ms. Stacey Abrams is anti-freedom anti-gun?

Zuckerberg
Issue him a summons, to testify. If he does show up, arrest his ass.

"But; there are more deaths each day or so in Chicago and other Democrat run cities all over the country and the media doesn't seem to show the same amount of concern or blame the leaders of those cities for the slaugher in their streets."

"I couldn’t agree more."

"I have come to the conclusion that the modern western world has now reached the point of what I’ve dubbed tangibles reality disconnect. Friday's Thoughts and Other Stuff (Sleep)

Dear Preppers and Survivalists,

Sleeping Child (ca 1893)
drawing by
Rosina Emmet Sherwood

How much?
I have written several blurbs about the medical research on sleeping. This research shows your age will determine how much sleep you and your family need to stay healthy.

For Children

Newborn to 3 months - 14 to 17 hours

4 to 12 months - 12 to 16 hours (including naps)

1 to 2 years old - 11 to 14 hours (including naps)

3 to 5 years old - 10 to 13 hours (including naps)

6 to 13 years old - 9 to 11 hours

14 to 17 years old - 8 to 10 hours

For Adults

18 to 60 years old - 7 or more hours

61 to 64 years old - 7 to 9 hours

65 to ... - 7 to 8 hours

Equipment
For most people, especially exhausted people, a flat comfortable spot, not too hot and not too cold, will be perfect for falling asleep. All they have to do is lay down and let nature take its course.

Of course, you and your family are preppers, so you know things aren't that simple when you're preparing for the tough times ahead.

So, ...

You have warm blankets, so you family may have a restful sleep during a winter storm. Sleeping bags so your family can easily evacuate to a shelter, if needed, during a hurricane.

But, ...

What are you going to do for unexpected guest or even expected guests?

My Situation
I work about 400 miles from home, so I want to be as cheap as possible. Plus, if I have to abandon my 'stuff,' I don't want lose a bunch of money, during an emergency evacuation.

So, ...

The Military Cot
Designed to hold about 250 pounds, the Army cot is inexpensive and plentiful on the surplus market. For you bigger folks, there are specialty cots that will handle a 400 pound person.

Surplus Military Metal and Nylon Cot

The military usually uses these in combination with a sleeping bag and sleeping pad.

Insulation
Most folks don't know about the military sleeping pad. It is a closed or open cell foam pad that provides insulation and smooths out the hard bumps for our Soldiers and Marine when they are in the field.

For your family, insulation will keep your backside from getting cold because the sleeping bag's insulation will compress.

At $15 to $50, they are expensive, especially when the local charity store is selling Queen sized comforters for under $10.

Queen Sized Comforter for Insulation

I fan-fold the comforter, so I have three layers. Plus, it adds some padding to the cot.

Next, ...
I added a twin sized fitted sheet to cover the padding.

Now, ...

You and your family could use a flat sheet, but they can get bunched up. Causing your guests to have to fix the bed every morning.

Which might not be a bad idea, ... To help keep them busy ; - )

Twin Sized Fitted Sheet to Cover the Padding

Next, I added a flat sheet, blanket and a pillow.

Ready for a Good Night's Sleep

No Worries
I like 100% cotton sheets, so that's what I bought from the local charity stores

And, ...

I wasn't picky about matching colors or shades of color, either.

Plus, ...

I couldn't find a twin flat sheet, so I bought a double sheet and folded it in two for the, almost, perfect fit.

Lastly, ...

I recently purchased a full sized blanket, to layer under the comforter for those cold winter nights.
