Volume Three: Number Two

Die großen blauen Pferde
Franz Marc
(1911)

Preparing
As we have seen, there are many events, positive and negative, facing our families, and just like the President and Congress, we (you and your family) don't have to get prepared for onrushing events.

I'll say it again.

You and your family don't need to get prepared for global climate change, super volcanoes, or a coronal mass ejection. The same goes for a nuclear war, cyber war, or any other armed conflict. This is also true for hurricanes, winter storms, or other so-called common events, like car trouble, a bout of unemployment, or being short on cash for family pizza night.

Just understand, you and your family may get thirsty, hungry, terribly cold, or ... dead because any action, even inaction, has consequences, some benign, some horrific, and some nothing happens, to you and your family.

Things You Might Want to Think About

99-Year Lease
Let me get this right.

South Dakota

70+ years old empty building

One Door and One Vent

No Plumbing, No Electricity, no Water, and, ...

it's leased.

Terrorism
Countries sponsor terrorist freedom fighters. We do it, and others do too.

"The Wheels Finally Come Off"
Mr. Kunstler has been making direr predictions for many years. Sooner or later, he is going to be right.

That's why I suggest you read his predictions for 2017

The Lucky
Several college marching bands backed out from the Presidential Inauguration parade. They cite 'racial' issues, usually how 'blacks' were treated at campaign events.

So, ... Talladega College's marching band answered the call to preform for our nation's next president.

Needless to say, some people are having problems with that decision. Just like some 'white' colleges had problems with marching in President Obama's Inauguration parade, ... not!

Who?
That's all I have to say.

Mein Kampf
When someone writes a book, saying that they plan to kill you and your family, like Hitler, you believe them.

Overheard

"As much as we accomplished in 2016, there was also a sense of treading water.  Brand new bubbly highs in the stock market blunted many people’s sense of urgency, while the various populist movements took a lot of energy from a lot of people that would otherwise have been directed at the sorts of issues outlined above."

"The poll, conducted ahead of the London Boat Show, found simple life skills have been left behind with advances in technology."

"... Mr. Xi is demanding that the propaganda apparatus step up its game."

Archdruid
James Michael Greer's blog, The Archdruid Report, has insightful things to say about many different topics.

Well, because of time constraints, I haven't been able to read him for a few months, so I have taken the time this week to go back a few weeks, and catch up.

Needless to say, ...

"I’m not sure how many people have noticed, though, that the election of Donald Trump was not merely a rebuke to the liberal left; it was also a defeat for the religious right. It’s worth recalling that the evangelical wing of the Republican Party had its own favorites in the race for the GOP nomination, and Trump was emphatically not one of them."

"An important factor has been left out of their analysis, and once that factor has been included, it becomes clear that free trade is bad policy that inevitably produces poverty and economic instability, not prosperity."

"The mainstream news media here in the United States, if they actually provided the public service they claim, might reasonably be expected to discuss the pros and cons of such a proposal, and of the many other options that face this nation at the end of its era of global hegemony."

"I’m not talking here about the great cycles of history, which take long enough to roll over that a certain amount of forgetfulness can be expected; the repeating patterns I have in mind come every few years, and yet very few people seem to notice the repetition."

"I’d therefore like to encourage those of my readers who have young children in their lives to consider going out and picking up a good old-fashioned collection of fairy tales, by Charles Perrault or the Brothers Grimm, and use those in place of the latest mass-marketed consequence-free pap when it comes to storytelling time."
