One Year Later, ...
I had no idea, when I stopped writing, that we would be facing a pandemic, race riots, Murder Hornets, an economic collapse, an insurrection, a major political revelation about former Vice President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. (probably greater than Spiro Agnew's bribery, extortion and tax fraud investigation), and other troubles.
But, ...
Here we are.
Pre-Election
If you're like me, you are planning for a disruption to your family's life.
Some of the things I am doing is topping off our food supplies. Not the long-term foods like dried beans and rice, but the short-term and medium-term foods such as soups, canned veggies, and frozen meats. I am also buying the first of several cords of wood for our new fireplace insert. Of course, I am filling our water containers (the most important prep after appropriate shelter) and treating them with chlorine bleach. One of the last things I will do this weekend is to fill our fuel cans and treat with fuel stabilizer.
Ooooh, ...
I will be preloading several pistol and rifle magazines, just in case.
Election Day
I, like many others, will be voting in person because I want to make sure my vote is counted, unlike the rejected 534,000 ballots from the primaries, and to prevent voter fraud.
Some advice, ...
After I vote, I'll probably take my wife, Katniss, out to breakfast then back home to work on some projects, close to the house.
Now, ...
I'm not worried. The possibility is slim of any violence happening in my part of the country, but I'm not taking many chances.
Post-Election
This is when I am concerned. Too many people have stated they plan to commit violent acts "If" Biden/Harris lose the election. These acts could range across a wide spectrum, such as roadblocks, sabotage of the electric grid, random shootings, arson, assassinations, and other imaginable events in every part of the country.
I am also concerned about the possible turmoil caused by one side or the other contesting the election's results. There is the possibility foreign actors could use the resulting commotion to mistakenly launch an economic, cyber, or terrorist attack against these United States or one of our allies, like Taiwan.
Long-Term
Either way, Trump/Pence or Biden/Harris, my family and I are still getting ready for the little emergencies that face every family, like automobile wrecks, unemployment, house fires, extreme weather, and many others. We are also getting ready for some of the larger events, too, such as the coming economic collapse, cyberwar, and several others.
But, ...
More about that later.
