Friday's Thoughts and Other Stuff

Dear Preppers and Survivalists,

Jungle G and I were talking a couple of days ago about last minute preps, and Jungle G said something I would like to share with you.

"No Matter What, Don't Go to the Grocery Store!"

Now, most people would say that's wrong because they need last minute stuff during a disaster. They'd give an excuse like ... We need bread, eggs, and milk, (the "French Toast Phenomenon") or I want to get rid of my last bit of cash before it becomes worthless and so on.

But,

There is the possibility of a lot of chaos at the grocery store. Folks will be rushing in and out of the store trying to secure food for their family, at the last minute. Some folks may turn to crime, maybe even taking your food as you come out of the store.

High Oil Prices
Folks, my family and I are seeing higher and higher fuel prices in our area.

Guess what?

Prices are going to go up on stuff like soap, shampoo, dishwashing detergent, and other petrochemical based products like plastics (food storage buckets, water storage jugs, and storage totes, to name a few)

Who Gets Your Children?
One of our friends, that we play cards with, was talking about long-term food storage, the other day. She said she was thinking about "Who would inherit her 25-year self-life freeze-dried food?" during a presentation at her church.

And, that got me to thinking.

First, my wife and family would get it all. The water filters, the food, the tent, sleeping bags, firearms and ...

But, then I thought.

What happens, if my wife and I go at the same time?

Who gets the children? With guns, water filter, sleeping bag, and ...?

My wife and I will need to think on that one.
